List display, collective processing and deletion of master data

The functionality of the list display for cost elements, cost centers, activity types and business processes has been enhanced.
Selection of master data for list display is now made by entering intervals, groups or selection variants.
In a selection variant you can limit the master data across all the master data fields offered in the standard, as well as customer enhancements for the master data fields. You maintain the selection variants directly from the initial screen for each transaction through "Environment -> Maintain sel. variants".
In the list display for the master data you can find all possibilities for sorting and filtering data that are offered by the ABAP list viewer.
You can create groups from the selected objects in the list display to simplify later selections.
Collective processing of cost centers has been fundamentally revised. From Release 4.0, you can now use it for business processes.
The selection of cost centers and business processes for collective processing occurs in the same way as the selection of master data for list display.
When you change the master data in collective processing, the output of the fields to be maintained occurs through a list variant. There are 4 standard list variants available, which vary in the number of master data fields offered for maintenance. You can also define your own list variants, for which all master data fields in the standard can be selected for maintenance. You can maintain list variants in Customizing or directly from the initial access screen through "Environment -> Maintain list variants".
You can change the list variant in the collective processing for the master data, so that you are able to maintain fields that have not been displayed till now. You can also go to the individual maintenance for a specified object or into the collective display.
You can create groups from the selected objects in the list display to simplify later selections.
The deletion functionality has been revised for the master data for cost elements, cost centers, activity types and business processes.
You can carry out deletions both individually and in collective processing.
In collective processing you select the master data for deletion in the same way as the selection of master data for list display.
By restricting the time period, you can delete master data for a specified time period.
By using a test run, you can check which of the selected master data can be deleted. To do this, the system carries out extensive checks of dependent data.
A list is output in both the test- and update run that displays which master data can and which master data can not be deleted. The system also informs which tables contain dependent data that prevents deletion.
Large quantities of data can require some time to check for dependent data. In this case, you can start deletion in the background.

Changes to the interface

The functions for list display, collective processing and deletion functions are to be found in the menu for the appropriate master data.
