Empties processing: New functions in Retail

Description

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

As a result of requirements from the retail sector (SAP Retail), Release 4.0A includes Empties Processing, which offers the following functions:

You can assign each unit of measure of a full product an empties bill of material.
The standard system contains the material type "VOLL" for full products and "LGUT" for empties.
Example:
The full product "beer" is managed in the unit "crate", which has two components assigned to it:
Component Qty Unit of measure
Bottle 24 piece
Crate 1 piece
If you enter a unit of measure of a full product in a purchase order or in a sales order and an empties bill of material exists for the unit of measure, the system automatically adds items for the empties components.
In the same way, empties components are added to a delivery if the delivery was generated as a follow-on document to a store order.
For every empties component, the system adds an item to the document, calculating the quantity from the quantity of the full product and the corresponding percentage of the component in the bill of material.
Example:
You order 15 crates of the full product "beer". An empties bill of material (BOM) exists for the unit of measure crate. The BOM has the components "bottle" (24) and "crate" (1). The system would add two extra items to the purchase order:
Material Order unit Unit of measure
Beer 15 Crate (manually entered)
Bottle 360 Piece (autom. added)
Crate 15 Piece (autom. added)
If you enter physical inventory differences for a full product in a unit of measure for which an empties BOM exists, the system automatically posts the differences for the empties components.
The quantity is based on the full product quantity and the corresponding percentage of the component in the BOM.
Empties components are not recorded in physical inventory documents and only appear after differences have been posted in the material document.
The part of the stock of an empties material that is assigned to a full product as an empties component is managed under the stock type "tied empties".
Stocks of empties that are not assigned to any full product are managed under the stock type "unrestricted-use".
You use movement type 441 to transfer empties stock from stock type "unrestricted-use" to stock type "tied empties". Movement type 442 reverses the transaction.
Example:
The full product "beer" has 15 crates in stock. This means that the corresponding part of the empties components "bottle" and "crate" are tied empties stock.
Material Unrestricted-use Tied empties
Beer 15
Bottle 240 360
Crate 10 15
