As a result of requirements from the retail sector (SAP Retail), Release 4.0A includes the following new functions:
Of these, the following was not included in SAP Retail Release 1.2B:
Material master data maintenance and use
You can only use this function if you use
The purchasing and sale of seasonal merchandise is carefully controlled. "Seasonal materials" are one-time materials that can only be sold during a specific season/year (e.g., women's fashions for late spring 1999). "Periodic materials" are sold during specific times every year (e.g., Christmas ornaments). Listing information maintained in the Material master data defines when a material will be available in plants. Provisions are also made for discontinuing materials.
Markdown planning
You can only use this function if you use
You can establish percentage markdowns that occur at specified times (for example, 60 days after start of the season, 90 days, and so on). It is also possible to enter markups. Once a markdown plan is activated and the season begins, the system automatically updates the actual revenues, number of weeks-on-hand, current inventory and value, amount of open purchase orders, etc. You can modify a markdown plan at any time, even when markdowns are already in effect.
Interface to the Information System
You can only use this function if you use
The Information System provides for season analysis so you can compare planned vs. actual results. Open-To-Buy budget calculations are season-dependent, and markdowns are taken into account.
Support for generic materials and variants
You can only use this function if you use
When you assign a generic material to a markdown plan, all its variants are automatically included. You may have variants which inherit their prices from the generic material, variants which have their own prices, or a combination of both. You can specify different sales quantities for the individual variants.
