Additionals: New Functions in Retail

Description

As a result of requirements from the retail sector (SAP Retail), Release 4.0A includes the following new functions:

Changes to functions that were included in SAP Retail Release 1.2B:

Additionals - general

You can assign additionals to a material to ensure the effective presentation of that material for sale to customers. Examples of additionals include: price labels, care labels, security tags, swing tickets, clothes hangers, or services such as arranging clothing on hangers.

You can use the functions described here to manage master data for additionals and to transmit this data in the form of IDocs.

Assigning additionals to materials

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

Every material that is to be sold can be assigned several additionals in material maintenance. You can enter several lines of text for each additional.

Defining procedures for additionals (Customizing)

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

In Customizing you can maintain procedures for additionals. Each such procedure determines how data for additionals is generated and defines the source of supply of the additional. It also determines who is to affix the additional to the merchandise (or combine them in some other way).

Additionals IDoc

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

There is a special IDoc for the exchange of data on additionals between head office, distribution centers and external suppliers. It is not used for sending data to stores, as the assortment list IDoc already fulfills this function.

You can define that certain events (such as goods receipt, for example) trigger the automatic generation of additionals IDocs. Moreover, you can request an additionals IDoc manually at any time.

Additionals data in the assortment list IDoc

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

You can transmit data on additionals to a store using the assortment list IDoc. When an assortment list IDoc is being generated, the system checks whether data on additionals is to be included in the list. If so, this data is copied to the assortment list IDoc.

Labeling functionality is being phased out

You can only use this function if you use

SAP Retail.

The existing Labeling functionality is being replaced by functions for additionals as of Release 4.0A and should therefore no longer be used (no ongoing SAP support).
