New Functionality for Defining Dynamic Breaks

Description

In Customizing for the work break schedule, there is a new field called Reference time that allows you to set dynamic breaks in relation to the start of the normal working time.

This new functionality is required due to the legal working time regulations in some countries (for example, in Germany) that demand 'dynamic' breaks after 6 hours. Up until now, the 6 hours was always counted from the start of the skeleton time in the daily work schedule. However, this leads to problems in valuating attendances and absences if a flextime schedule specifies a particularly long time frame during which employees are allowed to work. In this case, it can happen that the break is valuated outside of the normal working time.

The Reference time field is available as of Release 3.1H or 4.0A.

Change system parameters in customizing

If you want dynamic breaks to be set in relation to the start of the normal working time, enter N in the Reference time field in the step Define work break schedules.

In the standard SAP R/3 System, dynamic breaks are still set in relation to the start of the skeleton time.
