Previous Day Indicators

The previous day indicator in the R/3 Time Management component indicates that the record is to be assigned to the previous day. This indicator is mainly relevant for daily work schedules that bridge two calendar days.

You can only use the previous day indicator when recording time data with clock times. In this case, the daily work schedule assigned to the employee always applies to the day when the working time starts.

Therefore, the information provided by the previous day indicator is essential. This is the only way that the system can assign to the correct daily work schedule an entered data record that includes a start of working time later which is later than the start of working time in employee’s personal work schedule.

The daily work schedule NIGHT 2 has a planned working time of 10:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. An employee works during the night of December 14 to December 15, and as the substitution for the foreman from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The previous day indicator was not set when the substitution was recorded. Therefore, the substitution is assigned to December 15 instead of December 14. This can cause one of the following problems:
