Organizational Units - Definition

Organizational units (OrgUnits) in the R/3 System are used for long-term classification within an enterprise structure and are associated with a business goal.

Possible classification criteria:

Legal requirements:

for example, the Company Code OrgUnit for the rendering of accounts

Areas of responsibility::

for example, the Business Area or Profit Center OrgUnit for the calculation of profits

Capacity criteria:

for example, the Storage Location OrgUnit for the allocation and valuation of materials

Classification criteria:

for example, the Payroll Accounting Area OrgUnit for payroll accounting for salaried employees
