Multihomed Host

Definition

A multihomed host is a host that can be reached via several IP addresses. This means that the host can be present in several sub-networks simultaneously and can be reached from different sub-networks without routing. However, a multihomed host cannot be addressed uniquely via one name. Instead it must be addressed via one of the IP addresses or the corresponding IP names. Without corresponding routing a multihomed host can only be reached via the IP address that corresponds to the sub-network.
