Special Features of Systems with Several Application Servers

Prerequisites

If you configure the TMS on an R/3 System, you can specify the application server to be used for all TMS functions.

Procedure

To specify the application server, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Address in the dialog box TMS: Configure transport domain or in the dialog box TMS: Include R/3 System in transport domain.
  2. The address data of your system is displayed. It is used to generate the RFC connections.

  3. In the field Target host, use the F4 help to choose the host name of the application server you would like to use for the TMS.
  4. Choose the application server with the highest availability. This is generally the server used for the enqueue process.

  5. Choose Continue.

The application server selected is used for the TMS functions after the TMS configuration.

If the R/3 System has already been included in the transport domain, you can nevertheless change the address of the application server at any time.

To change the address of the application server, proceed as follows:

  1. Log onto the R/3 System serving as the transport domain controller.
  2. Call transaction STMS.
  3. Choose Overview ® Systems.
  4. This takes you to the system overview.

  5. Position the cursor on the system you want to change.
  6. Choose R/3 System ® Change.
  7. In the field Target host, enter the host name of the desired application server.
  8. Choose Connection test to check whether the machine name entered is correct.
  9. Then save your entry and distribute the changed TMS configuration.
