Monitoring Transports

Prerequisites

The Transport Management System provides various tools with which you can monitor transport activity in your transport domain.

Procedure

To obtain an overview of the entire transport activity, proceed as follows:

  1. Start transaction STMS.
  2. Choose Monitor ® Transports.
  3. This takes you to the log file ALOG containing the return codes of all individual transport steps.

  4. If you want to display only faulty transport steps, you can set a threshold value for the return code by choosing Edit ® Return code filter.
  5. The structure of the ALOG file is described in the R/3 library (Basis Components ® System Administration ® Transport Control ® Transport Control Program tp ® Log Hierarchy).

  6. If you choose SysLog ® Refresh, the entire ALOG file is reread.
  7. If you are only interested in entries added since the display was last refreshed, you can switch the display to a mode indicating the new entries by choosing Edit ® File end. As a result, the entire ALOG file is not displayed, but only the last 20 entries and all new entries.

If your transport domain consists of several transport groups, there is a separate ALOG file for each transport group.
