Special Features when Using Several Transport Directories

As of Release 3.1H, the Transport Management System supports transports between transport groups. After a change request has been released with the Workbench or Customizing Organizer, the requests are marked for import into the target system. This marking occurs in the local transport directory of the source system. Before the import into the target system, the import queue of the target system must therefore be adjusted, if source and target system are in different transport groups.

To adjust an import queue for all transport groups, proceed as follows:

  1. Call transaction STMS.
  2. Choose Overview ® Imports.
  3. This takes you to the import overview.

  4. Position the cursor on the R/3 System whose import queue you want to adjust.
  5. Choose Import queue ® Display.
  6. This takes you to the import queue of the selected R/3 System.

  7. Now choose Extras ® Other requests ® In foreign groups, and confirm the prompt.
  8. The TMS searches for requests for the selected R/3 System in all transport groups. If requests are found, these requests are displayed to you for transfer.

If you have defined External Systems, the In external groups option is also available to you. In this case, only the external transport directories for this system are adjusted.

  9. Confirm the prompt.

The TMS transfers the data files and cofiles belonging to the requests and adds the requests to the import queue of the selected R/3 System.

The procedure for adjusting transport groups can be restarted. If you restart the adjustment after an error, a message is displayed stating that the import queue is locked. In this case, you can ignore the lock.
