Restoring

If you need to restore (rollforward) the database, you can use this function to restore the archived log files.

Procedure

  1. To restore log files, choose SAP-DB2admin: Log File Management in the Control Center.
  2. Select tab page Restore.
  3. You begin by selecting the range of log files to be restored.

  4. To select the first log file to be restored, click on the arrow next to the field First log file. A list of all the log files available to be restored is displayed.
  5. Select the first log file to be restored from this list.
  6. To select the last log file to be restored, click on the arrow next to the field Last log file. A list of all the log files available to be restored is displayed.
  7. Select the last log file to be restored from this list.
  8. All the log files from the first to the last log file selected will be restored.

  9. For Execution mode, select synchronous. Asynchronous execution is not yet supported.

"Synchronous execution" means that restoring takes place immediately and that the Control Center waits for it to complete. "Asynchronous execution" means that the restore process is passed to the server and that the Control Center does not wait for it to complete. In the latter case, you can start using the Control Center again immediately.

Under Storage locations, the names of the tapes on which the log files are stored may be displayed. This allows you to make sure you have all the necessary tapes ready before starting the restore.
