Finding Suitable Persons for a Job, and Creating a Potential Example

  1. Choose Planning ® Succession planning.
  2. The Succession Planning screen appears.

  3. Choose Edit ® Change object type.
  4. The Select Object Type dialog box appears.

  5. Position the cursor on the object type Job and choose Transfer.
  6. This takes you back to the Succession Planning screen.

  7. Enter the object name or the object ID of the job in the corresponding field.
  8. If necessary, change the key date for planning.
  9. Select the planning criterion Include potentials, and at least one other criterion.
  10. Choose Enter.
  11. Choose Planning ® Execute.
  12. The Succession Planning screen appears. In the top section of the screen, the system displays standard information on the job. In the succession plan, the system displays objects that match each of the selection criteria specified.

  13. To display the ranking list for the objects, choose Goto ® Ranking list.
  14. The Succession Planning screen appears. This ranking list is sorted by suitability range or suitability percentage. The planning criteria that the objects meet are displayed in the right-hand section of the screen.

    1. To toggle between the suitability ranges and the suitability percentage, choose Settings ® Suitability % on/off.
  15. Select the person for whom you want to define a potential for the job, and choose Planning ® Create ® Preference or Potential.
  16. The potential for the job is recorded in the person’s Potentials sub-profile.

  17. Repeat the step described above, as required.
  18. To update the succession plan, choose Edit ® Refresh.
  19. This person is displayed in the succession plan under the description is a potential of.

  20. You can save the succession plan and ranking list to file, or print them.


You have searched for persons for the job in question, and assigned potential for the job to those who were suitable.
