Simulating Succession Planning

  1. Choose Planning ® Succession planning.
  2. The Succession Planning screen appears.

You can perform the simulation for all the object types available. Even if you select an object type other than Position, only positions will be evaluated - with the exception of the first entry.

  3. To change the object type, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose Edit ® Change object type.
    2. The Select Object Type dialog box appears.

    3. Position the cursor on the object type you want and choose Transfer.

This takes you back to the Succession Planning screen.

  4. Enter the object name or the object ID in the corresponding field.
  5. If necessary, change the key date for planning.
  6. Select the planning criteria you want to include.
  7. The criterion Include dislikes is really only useful if used in conjunction with another planning criterion.

You can use the planning criterion Additional career independently of the criterion Include career.

  8. If applicable, enter a career of your choice in the Additional career field.
  9. Choose Enter.
  10. Choose Planning ® Perform simulation.
  11. The Succession Planning screen appears.

A person is proposed for each position that is to be filled. The suitability of this person and the planning criteria they fulfill are also displayed.

  12. To toggle between the suitability ranges and the suitability percentage, choose Settings ® Suitability % on/off.
  13. You can save the simulation of succession to file and/or print it out.

You have simulated succession planning for the object selected. You can use this simulation as a basis for further evaluations. See Evaluating a Simulated Succession Scenario.
