Creating a Limit on a Deduction


If a limit on a deduction that is not the same as the standard limit that applies to a particular employee, you should create a Limits on Deductions (Infotype 0165) record for this employee. This will record override the standard limit set in the system.


  1. Choose Human resources ® Personnel admin. ® Maintain master data.
  2. The Maintain HR Master Data screen appears.

  3. Enter the employee’s personnel number.
  4. Use the matchcode function to find a number you do not know.

  5. Select the Limits on Deductions (Infotype 0165) record by entering the name or number in the Infotype field.
  6. Choose Create.
  7. Select the Wage Type Classes to which the limit should apply.
  8. Select the time frame to which the limit applies.
  9. In the Interval field, enter the required time frame.
  10. Enter a fixed amount or a select a Limiting Rule for the limit.
  11. Save your entries.


A non-standard limit is set for this employee on the relevant deductions.

You may assign a number of different limits to one wage type class for an employee. This allows you to specify, for example, that no more than 6% or $200 may be deducted from the total gross amount a particular employee receives per month.
